Whirlpool 3362624 Timer Knob

Perfect replacement for older Sears Kenmore Washer with some improvements
This is a perfect replacement for older Sears Kenmore Washer and they've even made some improvements. Part of the plastic that threads into the bolt on the washer control panel has been replaced with some metal components. This is the section that sheared off on my washer and required replacing.

Knob does not work for all washers even if it says correct part number
Although the knob is supposed to work with my washer, it just does not fit. I have read this from other customers as well but decided to take the chance. Bad idea. Somewhere along the line the stem in the washer changed size and since it is such an old machine, no one appears to have bothered to do the research. The washer uses a 1/4 in wide shaft with 20 threads per inch. THAT is what we should have looked for. We ended up getting a simple wing nut with that spec and it is working fine for us.

Way better than the original
This replaced a 15 year-old plastic knob that had a pot-metal insert. Since in every use of the washer, you need to pull, push, and turn it, the plastic eventually broke. This replacement design is all-metal with a rubber covering and will no doubt outlast every other component ... as it should be; there's no good reason to under-engineer such a simple, yet critical part! Note: the OEM supplier wanted literally10 times the price to replace it with (presumably) another plastic knob.
